Formation Minutes of the Smoky Valley Historical Association
The Lindsborg Historical Society was reorganized as the SMOKY VALLEY HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION at a meeting held on November 5, 1963, at the Lindsborg Rural High School library at 7:30 P.M.
Mr. John Heline, chairman for the group, asked for the report of the Committee on recommendations. Mrs. Einar Jaberborg, chairman for this committee, then presented a list of recommendations, including a proposed constitution. The group then discussed and revised several details of the constitution, then a motion was made and a second to adopt same.
A ballot of twelve names suggested by the group present at the meeting was submitted to the group by the chairman and seven names were selected by ballot to head the list for a proposed council. It was suggested that the seven select positions be in keeping with their interest and abilities. Substitutions and/or committee chairmen, it was suggested, could be drawn from the names remaining after a council had been determined.
The ballot listings appear below.
Four matters discussed informally by the group were:
1. Prepare early for the Centennial.
2. Acquire land on which to place permanent exhibits. (Possibly the land east of the swimming pool.)
3. Think about SMOKY VALLEY VILLAGE made up into permanent exhibit by historical buildings
of the community and the Valley.
4. Affiliate with the Kansas State Historical Society.
Those attending this meeting were: Carl Hagstrand Kenneth Lutman
Dallas L. Nelson Margaret Bloomquist
James Nirider Lucille Runbeck
Dr. P. D. Langerman Elmer E. Peterson
Luther Elmquist John Heline
Elizabeth Jaderborg Pat Bashor
Mrs. Vernon Johnson
Respectfully submitted,
James Nirider, Sect. pro temp
Elizabeth Jaderborg, Recording
Sect.
