The Sunnemo Parish Church was the last church that Pastor Olof Olsson ministered to before traveling to America and founding the Augustana Synod church of Bethany Lutheran Church of Lindsborg, Kansas, founded in the summer of 1869.  Pastor Olsson was also the founder of two other neighboring Augustana Synod churches in that same year.  They were the Freemount Church and the Falun Salemborg Church. 

​Pastor Olsson is considered the founder of Swedish Lindsborg when he brought a colony of Swedes from his Sunnemo Parish Church, Värmland, Sweden there on June 27, 1869.
