Historian author Mr. Bill Carlson wrote about the Gustaf Hogland Family in his book of 2011, Lindsborg Then and Lindsborg Now. Gustaf arrived in the Smoky Valley a year after Bill Carlson's grandfather, Magnus Carlson, arrived with his bride Maria in 1867. The founder of Bethany Lutheran Church and Lindsborg, Pastor Olof Olsson, performed the wedding ceremony for both Magnus and Gustaf and their brides.
