With permission graciously granted by the Gröndal Eddy Family and EddyWorks, some images of Mrs. Margaret Eddy's grandfather's photographs found in her book "Through the Lens of B.G. Gröndal: Keeper of His Time" are now available to view here.
What an extraordinary gift for SWEDES to be a source of access to some of B.G.'s photographs for the Lindsborg Swedes specifically, but for the world generally! Not since 2006 were the Gröndal photographs on view in Lindsborg at the exhibition at the McPherson County Old Mill Museum has the community been able to view a grouping of his work. What a lovely way to re-introduce to the Kansas Swedish Smoky Valley and the community of Lindsborg to them, and to their photographer Bror Gustaf Gröndal! What a wonderful way to introduce them more broadly to the world!
The well known phrase, "a picture is worth a thousand words" rings true here with Bror Gustaf Gröndal's photographs during his life as a lead photographer in the state of Kansas living in Lindsborg from 1887 to 1945. Mrs. Margaret Dahlquist Eddy's book on her grandfather's photographs dedicates this work to Bethany College, The Smoky Valley Community, and to the Gröndal Descendants; and further more it has been written with the appropriate photographs in memory of her grandparents Bror Gustaf Gröndal and Sarah Margaret Noyd Gröndal. Here are images of some of the wonderful photographs found in Through the Lens of B.G. Gröndal: Keeper of His Time" by Margaret Dahlquist Eddy.
Next to the workroom in the building's southeast corner were two rooms: a darkroom for printing and enlarging the negatives (where granddaughter Margy sat for many hours, pg 46
