Written and edited by A. John Pearson under the leadership of eighth college president, Dr. Arvin W. Hahn, below is a most comprehensive detailed yet concise narrative on Bethany College covering a period from 1881 to 1981. It is titled, The Centennial of Bethany College.
Of those 100 years, Emil was with Bethany for 67 years and his wife Lydia was by his side from 1916 until her death in 1943. Photographs of Emil and their friends, "the other Swedes," appear throughout this section where a short history of the college is revealed giving details on Bethany College's first eight (8) presidents: Edward Nelander (1882-1889), College Founder Dr. Rev. Carl A. Swensson (1889-1904), Dr. Rev. Ernest F. Pihlblad (1904-1941), Dr. Emory K. Lindquist (1942-1953), Dr. Robert A. L. Mortvedt (1953-1957), Dr. L. Dale Lund (1958-1965), Dr. G. Kenneth Andeen (1965-1967) and Dr. Arvin W. Hahn (1967-1983), as noted below in "A Short History of Bethany" by Mr. Pearson.
